About the conference

We sustain sustainability_2020 (Podržimo održivo_2020) is the second conference held by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce focusing on sustainable development goals and making a better world for everyone. At the conference organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in co-operation with ICC Croatia we will start the discussion from the central topic of Davos 2020 how to save the planet and scrutinize some of the most prominent problems of the world today. We will discuss the changes needed in our approach to management in the next ten years and find out what kind of tools and thought processes we need in order to fulfil the 17 goals of sustainable development from the UN’s plan to create a better world for everyone by 2030. We will touch upon the focus of the world's largest business organization, ICC Croatia, in the presentation by its president and until recently Chairman of the Board of Unilever, who took part in shaping the goals of sustainable development. We are also interested in what the scientists and decision makers think about various aspects and links between the 17 goals and the economy, technology, climate, environment and planetary borders, and how successful is the EU in achieving the goals of sustainable development.

We are also asking the mother of all questions: how to be good at telling the story about sustainability? We're dealing with both global and local perspectives. The creator of the communications system for UN Sustainable Development Goals will be joining us. The central point of his approach is the fact that adopting these goals might be our last chance to protect and help repair our world, this is why people must understand and accept them so that we could implement them and they will be easier to understand through conversation rather than stating facts, numbers and graphs. We would like to know the thoughts of the millennials, generations Z and Alpha, are they disappointed and what do they expect from the business community? We’re expanding on this story and answering the question on how to form big stories in various media and questioning visual stereotypes in the communication of sustainability.

The president of the ICC and a visionary of sustainable business

ICC is the world’s largest business organisation, representing 45 million companies across the globe

The conference is held as a part of a new HGK_COR Akcelerator platform which was started by the Community for socially responsible business with the support from the Sector for energy and environmental protection, the Marketing association at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce is also helping with the organization of the conference. It is a cooperative social incubator focused on sharing ideas and good practice, knowledge and skills needed to find solutions for achieving the 17 goals of sustainable development. This year the conference is taking place as part of the Republic of Croatia’s presidency of the Council of EU. Considering the European side of the conference and the strong focus of the new European Commission on improving the life standards of citizens, the title of the conference is “Better solutions, better habits, a better world”.
